Weatherization Technician I - Housing Services at Pueblo County, CO, Pueblo, CO
Position Summary
Assists in performing home weatherization work on dwellings.
Work involves assisting in weatherizing homes to improve energy efficiency. Employees work as crews, performing building construction and related duties to install insulation and perform other work to reduce energy losses of dwellings. Work requires the use of common and specialized hand and power tools. Employees receive instruction for each phase of the work on the job and work is checked by crew chiefs for adequacy.

What You Will Do
- Assists in installing blown-in and batt insulation in site-built and mobile home attics, sidewalls, floors and underbellies, subspace areas, vapor barriers, and water blankets.
- Performs basic residential construction, drywall repairs, and general labor while utilizing hand tools and power tools.
- Replaces incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps.
- Assists in installing low-flow showerheads.
- Performs routine weatherization improvements as a member of a team rotating duties, which include safety tests on furnaces and appliances of various types, assists with furnace replacements, air duct sealing and repairs, and client education.
- Air duct sealing to include blower door usage, sealing bypasses; applies caulking and weather stripping, repairs broken glass, and sealing ducts.
- Performs air sealing, duct sealing, and the installation of insulation and base load measures.
- Installs weather-stripping, storm windows, doors, and other energy-conservation materials.
- Educates clients about energy-saving methods and techniques and informs them about weatherization work performed.
- Completes paperwork and accurately documents material and labor usage. Assists co-workers in completing accurate and thorough paperwork.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
What You Have
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- Minimum of one-year experience performing building construction work
- Valid driver’s license Required
- Must successfully pass background check Required
- Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening Required

DEPARTMENTS SCHEDULED TO WORK ON HOLIDAYS
Due to operational requirements, some employees will be required to work on holidays. The employee must take the holiday by the end of the month following the holiday at a date approved by their Elected Official or Department Director
SICK LEAVE
Regular full-time employees accrue eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 960 hours.
VACATION
- 0-5 years: earn eight (8) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 144 hours.
- 5-10 years: earn twelve (12) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 216 hours.
- 10+ years: earn sixteen (16) hours per month with a maximum accrual of 288 hours.
RETIREMENT
All Regular Full-Time employees and Elected Officials are required to participate in the County Retirement Plan upon completion of one (1) month of continuous employment. A pre-tax deduction of 8.25% will be deducted from the employee's monthly pay.
