Job Description:

Position Description: Oversee the operation of refrigeration equipment as it relates to the freezing of product.

Shift: Primarily day shift. During the harvest season, rotating shifts – availability required for day and evening shifts. Availability required for, overtime (as requested), some holidays and weekends during the harvest season.

Pay: $28.30 – $33.60 per hour D.O.E.

Benefits: Permanent, fulltime position benefits include medical, dental, and vision on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Upon qualifying through hours worked, eligible for paid vacation, 10 paid holidays per calendar year, jury duty, bereavement leave, 401k + matching, Life and Long-term Disability Insurance. Job Responsibilities: Including, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring of temperature, pressure and air compressors
  • Logging information pertaining to the equipment and data
  • Required to oversee tunnel clean-up crew, with participation as required to ensure completion of job
  • General routine maintenance on process refrigeration equipment
  • Operate ammonia compressors, condensers and pumps, to allow maximum production with minimum cost. Familiar with function and use of the computer system for refrigeration
  • Recognize, troubleshoot and complete routine maintenance on pumps and plumbing, lights, and enclosure
  • Maintenance to compressors limited to filters, strainers, and seals. Familiar with the process of adding anhydrous ammonia to plant system.
  • Operate boiler and do routine maintenance to include, change make-up pump, open boiler ends, to change external parts of boiler. Able to add boiler chemicals to system in correct proportions and be able to blow down system.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

  • Must possess current, valid Washington’s State Driver’s License
  • Preferred CIRO or CARO certification(s)
  • Preferred experience with forklift (NFFC will conduct onsite forklift certification and training for utility driving)
  • Ability to work all shifts which may include days, evenings, weekends and some holidays

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk a maximum of 3 hours prior to each break period.
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding and the like using the feel and legs and/or hands and arms. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on a narrow or slippery surface.
  • Ability to extend both hands and arms in any direction.
  • Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with the hands.
  • Ability to obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color, or other characteristic of objects.
  • Ability to twist/turn trunk of body from side to side.
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
  • Ability to bend the legs at the knees to come to rest on the knee or knees.
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward bending the spine and legs.
